Salon Art + Design, produced by Sanford L. Smith + Associates, announces that it will not take place this November. Over these past months, we have worked diligently with New York City, State, and Park Avenue Armory with the aim of producing a safe, healthy, and stunning event; but in the end we have concluded that conditions are not appropriate for an event of this scale to take place in New York this year.
In lieu of a live, in-person fair, we are pleased to announce the production of a luxurious print magazine: Salon–the intersection of art + design. Executive Director, Jill Bokor, along with other Salon team members, cut their teeth in the editorial and publishing industries before pivoting to fairs. Bokor's extensive experience in publishing began at New York magazine, later serving as publisher and editorial director of the internationally influential Art + Auction from 1984-1999 and such publications as I.D. Magazine, Architecture, Interiors, and Art & Antiques from 2000-2010.
“Many of us, with a professional background in magazines, combined our editorial and visual skills to bring events like Salon Art + Design to life. We are now returning to our roots, translating the DNA of the fair into a collectible, thoughtful publication, which celebrates the unmatched quality of our exhibitors, collectors, and guests.” says Bokor.
In addition, because the fair acknowledges that there is no substitute for seeing works on display in a gallery or home, a digital, interactive component will be
incorporated into the printed piece and an on-line version will be promoted and available to web visitors.

Black Lives Matter
We at Salon Art + Design support the Black Lives Matter movement and stand against racism in any form.
We are committed to upholding the environment in our office and at our fairs that honors the diversity of our small team, our partners, galleries, and our visitors. Many of our staff and friends are affected by the ongoing, systemic racism that has been tolerated in our country and across the world, not only now, but throughout history.
To our family of colleagues and all of those in our country who are currently making a concerted effort to create change: We see you. We hear you. We support you.
Please consider contributing to one of these worthy causes that we support: Southern Poverty Law Center, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2021.
Salon Art + Design will return for its 10th Year Celebration at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City in November 2021. Presenting the world’s best design – vintage, modern and contemporary – enhanced by blue-chip 20th century and contemporary art, Salon will feature leading art and design galleries from around the world, spotlighting the trends of collectible design.
Salon has differentiated itself from other fairs by including a highly curated mixture of historic and contemporary collectible design and fine art. Just as top interior designers create eclectic homes for discerning clients, Salon exhibitors are encouraged to create immersive environments mirroring the way we live today. The success of Salon lies in the quality of its exhibiting galleries, the extremely international flavor of the material and an eclecticism that is highly sought by today’s collectors and tastemakers.
Both young and seasoned collectors approach the design market, seeking the new, the uncommon, and the accessible. The material offered at Salon ranges from periods that have now become classic: Bauhaus, Art Deco and mid-century design coexisting happily with work by young and established contemporary makers.
Salon is vetted and the only international fair of this caliber to combine styles, genres, and periods–cutting a universal and timeless swath.
