About

Converso highlights the importance of American craft within the larger story of modern design. Works by Arthur Espenet Carpenter, George Nakashima, Phillip Lloyd Powell, and Paul Evans show how handcraft and organic form redefined furniture as sculpture. In dialogue with international masters—Mies van der Rohe, Saarinen, Knoll, and Charle Eames—the exhibition reveals how American studios shaped a uniquely expressive and enduring modern legacy.
